MatchesAjinkya Rahane’s TATA IPL journey is one of longevity and reinvention. A part of the league since 2008, he made his mark with Rajasthan Royals, where he spent the bulk of his prime years. Between 2011 and 2019 (except two seasons with RPS in between), Rahane scored over 2,500 runs for the franchise, including two centuries, and established himself as a reliable top-order presence. His standout season came in 2012, when he amassed 560 runs, including a 103* against RCB that featured six fours in an over — a first in IPL history. He followed it up with another 500-plus campaign in 2015 and later led RR in 2018 and 2019. Alongside his IPL exploits, Rahane has been a prolific performer for India, scoring over 7000 international runs and famously leading the team to a historic Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph in Australia in 2020/21. He rediscovered his T20 game in IPL 2023, striking at 172.45 in a title-winning season for Chennai Super Kings. That resurgence earned him a move to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the 2025 Mega Auction, where he has returned as captain.
